Discover the history of flight at San Diego’s Air & Space Museum
Of all the museums in San Diego, the Air and Space Museum was the museum that my husband who had visited years ago (as a child) with his family remember the best. He couldn’t wait to take my daughter who loves Science and Space.
We started by exploring the planes used during WWI & WWII. After my husband pointed out to our kids how during the war they liked to paint symbols on the bottoms of the wings to show those on the ground what country the plane belonged to, our kids had to run around trying to identify each plane.
My boys were most excited to see Snoopy and his enemy the Red baron amongst the planes. Of course, we had to stop and get a picture.
Did you know that they have a whole section at the Air and Space Museum just for kids with flight simulators, Magnetic Gears and a Moon bounce pad? They call the section the kids Aviation Action Hangar.
After checking out the Kid’s Aviation Action Hanger, make sure you stop by their 4D theater. They have some really fun free shows that are fun for the whole family.
It was soo fun to learn about the history of flight and see first hand the evolution of airplanes through the years. in this part of the museum, they have a bunch of fun hands-on fun (like climbing into helicopter cockpits and planes.
Last of all, for those who love space, there is a fun section all about space flight that our kids really enjoyed going through, They have moon rocks, space suits, simulators the Appolo 9 command module. Seriously, if your kids love space, science or planes they will love this museum.
