8 Important FAQ’s To Know About Star Wars: Galaxy Edge Coming to Disney Parks 2019

I was soo excited when I heard that Disney was building a new Star Wars themed attraction at both their US Theme Parks (Disneyland and Disney World.) As more and more announcements of what the attractions would include have come out I have only gotten more excited. Added to all the Pixar fun that came out last year and I can’t wait to take my kids to go and see.

Here are the top FAQs we know about the new Star Wars Galaxy Edge attractions that you will want to know before you go to see it. 

 

1- Opening Dates

Star Wars: Galaxy Edge opens May 31st at Disneyland (in California) and on August 29th in Walt Disney World.

2- Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is to Open in Phases. 

Phase 1 will open at Disneyland on May 31st and will feature both the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run as well as the immersive Star Wars Experience on the remote planet of Batuu a far lung plant on the galaxy’s outer rim. That’s right guests will get to step into the story and experience delicious galactic foods, drinks, and shopping before hopping aboard and taking control of the infamous Millennium Falcon in one of three unique roles as the ship hurtles it’s way through space. 

Phase 2 is supposed to open later this year (date is not released yet) This Phase will be the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.  This attraction is said to be the most ambitious that Disney has attempted. In this attraction, guests will enjoy the totally immersive experience of finding themselves in the middle of the galactic war between the Resistance and the First Order. Their journey will take them inside an actual full-size starship as well as onboard a nearby Star Destroyer.

3- Reservations Required for entrance between May 31st and June 23rd. 

Disney has announced that due to limited capacity for both the Disneyland Park and Galaxy Edge Attraction & Experience that between May 31st and June 23rd all guest will be required to obtain a no-cost Reservation to gain admittance to the Galaxy Edge attraction. Reservations are subject to availability. 

To make your reservation you will need a Valid Theme Park Admission Ticket as well as a Disney Account (Sign up for a Disney Account –>HERE<–). Reservations are subject to availability. The only way to guarantee a reservation is to book your stay at one of the 3 main Disney hotels. (at which point you will be issued a reservation for each registered guest.)For those not staying at one of the 3 Disneyland Resort Hotels reservations open at 8 AM Pacific Time so make sure to order your Disneyland tickets now and then mark your calendar to snag your reservation ASAP.

4- Using The Disney Parks mobile app

Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is the first Disney Land created to fully integrate with their Disney Parks Mobile App. Within the Galaxy Edge Land, there will be a lot of unique opportunities to deepen your engagement by using the Play Disney Parks Mobile App. You will get to decide if you want to join the resistance, help a smuggler or even pledge your loyalty to the First Order.

Guest will also use the mobile app to engage with the land by translating languages, finding out what’s inside a crate and accomplishing fun tasks.  They will also use the app to interact with elements in the land like ships, media screens, droids, and door panels. 5-Extra Magic Hour & Magic Morning at Disneyland Park. 

At this time Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will not be available during Extra Magic Hour or Magic Morning at Disneyland Park. This Land is only open during normal park hours and again for dates between May 31st and June 23rd require a reservation to access (the reservations are for a specific time & date.)

6- Max Passes & Fast Passes

At this time Max Passes and Fast Passes are unavailable for Star Wars: Galaxy Edge. But you can still use them for many of the other fun attractions at Disneyland to make your experience even better.

7- Height Requirements 

The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride does have a height requirement of  38″ (97 cm) or taller.

8- New Stroller& Cooler Policy

In anticipation of the bigger crowds due to the much-awaited opening of Galaxy Edge, Disney parks have changed their policy on what strollers and coolers are and are not allowed in the park.
