Disney’s FASTPASS vs MaxPass

Are you trying to decide whether to get a Fastpass or Maxpass for your next Disney Vacation?

This is a big year for the Disneyland Resort, with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge finally opening and a number of other attractions, rides and events also making a debut. There have also been some recent updates to Disneyland ticket options for those traveling to Disneyland, and I have some info from my friends at Get Away Today to help you save the most on your next trip. If you’re wondering how to get the most for your money or what the difference is between FASTPASS vs MaxPass I’ve got you covered.

Disneyland Ticket Options

The best way to save on Disneyland tickets is to purchase with Get Away Today. They will price match any other Disneyland ticket options, and will honor any discount that may come up after you already book. You’re never penalized for booking early and will never miss out on a sale, even if you have already purchased your Disneyland tickets! This is especially convenient because Get Away Today has a Layaway Plan, so if you book early and start making payments, discounts can still be honored and you just continue to pay off the updated balance. And if you didn’t think it could get any better, the Layaway Plan is interest-free.

With Get Away Today, you can purchase discount 1-Park per Day Tickets or Park Hopper Tickets, and you can even include MaxPass at the time of purchase. For anyone who has used MaxPass before, you probably know why this is exciting. For those who aren’t familiar with MaxPass, I’ll tell you all about it.

Disneyland Ticket Options – FASTPASS vs MaxPass

In Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park, there is a free service called FASTPASS. This is a system set in place to allow guests to skip the line on select rides, attractions and shows. To request a FASTPASS, you physically walk to a kiosk near the ride which will distribute a FASTPASS reminder ticket. FASTPASS will assign a return time to ride, and you are free to enjoy other experiences until that time. So instead of waiting in line you can hop on another ride, grab a bite to eat or maybe just hang out in the shade for a bit. Then you return to the ride with your according to the return time that FASTPASS linked to your Disneyland Resort ticket and have almost no wait time to get on.

MaxPass is an additional cost service that allows you to electronically request FASTPASS. Instead of having to go to each FASTPASS distributor for each ride, show, or attraction of choice, you can be anywhere in the park and request one. It helps you save even more time and fit in more fun because you’re not physically walking all over the parks to request FASTPASS tickets. MaxPass is $15 per person, per day, and it also includes unlimited PhotoPass downloads. When you purchase MaxPass via the Disneyland app in the Resort, you can pick and choose the days you want. If you’re going to be in Disneyland for three days but only want to have MaxPass for two of them, that’s definitely an option.

If you purchase MaxPass ahead of time with discount Disneyland tickets from Get Away Today, you will be purchasing MaxPass for every day you have theme park admission. Purchasing MaxPass with your tickets takes one extra step out of the equation when you arrive at Disneyland. You won’t have to take the time to load your tickets into the Disneyland app and purchase MaxPass when everyone in your family is antsy to get going and start enjoying themselves! Get Away Today will automatically tie MaxPass to your tickets before you travel.

FASTPASS vs MaxPass – Is It Worth the Extra Cost?

A lot of people wonder if it’s worth buying MaxPass, or if they should purchase MaxPass for everyone in their travel party. It really comes down to what kind of experience you want at Disneyland. How many days will you be in Disneyland? Do you want to ride as many rides as possible? Are those photo memories really important to you? MaxPass can help you fit in more, especially if you have limited time in the Resort.

You can still have a wonderful experience in Disneyland using FASTPASS vs MaxPass, but there is added convenience with MaxPass giving you what is essentially remote access to request FASTPASS tickets. Also, the PhotoPass downloads taken by Disney photographers in iconic spots appeal to a lot of people because sometimes a single photo download from a ride is $15. With a $15 MaxPass purchase, you have unlimited downloads of those ride photos, plus any photos taken by a PhotoPass photographer throughout the Resort. This beats taking selfies (especially since selfie sticks aren’t allowed!) and asking random people to take pictures for you.
